Next week, I'll post some good photos from the Masters. Next year, I am hoping to attend the Masters. A great photo from the NY Post

I am not a New York Knicks fan, but this photo from the NY Post is really nice. The post has fantastic sports photographers and great shots every day. Indeed, the great photos are a primary reason that I am a subscriber. To see the photos online, go to www.nypost.com.

Bristol Motor Speedway - Nascar

The sights and sounds at a Nascar event make a great foundation for great photography. Furthermore, the Night Race at Bristol is beyond compare. Sadly, my skills were lacking and my best shot is mediocre at best.

My Photography Equipment - March, 2011

Camera:
1) Nikon D7000: this is my new camera and I anticipate that it will be used for most of the photos that I post on this blog. For people looking for a "near" professional quality DSLR, this is the one to get.
2) Nikon D60: my old camera, it is what got me interested in taking better pictures and trying to branch out into sports photography. While it lacks many of the features of to the D7000, it has the advantage of being light and small. When I need to keep weight down, it will be brought out to play.

Lenses:

1) Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR: this lens is my first (and only) professional quality lens. It is built like a tank and weighs nearly as much. While it has been supplanted by the VRII as Nikon's top of the line lens in this class, it offers most of the performance at a substantial discount. Because it weighs a ton, I only bring it out to play when I need fast glass.

2) Nikon 18-200 VR II: this lens lives on my D7000 most of the time. It offers a one lens solution to normal situations and is fast enough for daylight photography. Furthermore, it is not so large that it attracts attention.

3) Nikon 50-200 DX VR: this kit lens is the best bargain around. It is small, light and takes good photos in daylight conditions (and with a flash). This lens lives on the D60 for when I need to travel light.

Future Purchases:

1) Teleconverter: the 70-200 is fast enough to use a teleconverter. When I need additional focal lenght, I plan on adding one of these to my kit.

2) Nikon 70-300mm VR: Although not cheap, this lens offers more focal lenght at a reasonable price. Cannot be used for low light situations.
